Dani Tortolero first pulled on Barça’s Under-12 (alevín) shirt at just ten years old. He climbed steadily through the club’s youth levels until making his senior debut in a Champions League match against Belgian side Club Brugge. Then-coach Louis van Gaal handed him another appearance in a Champions League clash with Galatasaray.

The Catalan defender left Barça in 2003 to join Elche. Tortolero hung up his boots at Rapid Bucharest in 2016 after spells with Nàstic Tarragona, Hércules, Salamanca, Girona, Sabadell, and Cypriot club Doxa Katokopias.
