A talented, two footed midfielder, Nayim worked his way up to the first team in 1986 after spells with the U19s and the B team. After leaving Barça in 1998 he played for Tottenham Hotspur and Zaragoza where he won the European Cup Winners Cup in 1995, scoring the winner in the final against Arsenal.
