FC Barcelona’s Palau Blaugrana hosted a season-end celebration this Friday, even though the handball campaign isn’t over yet. The team closed out their final home match with a 45–27 win over Tubos Aranda, delayed by an hour due to travel issues, but the result was secondary to the real highlight: honouring the ten players departing this summer.

After landing an early 6–4 lead thanks to Aleix Gómez’s three goals (and five more before halftime from Makuc), Barça pulled away to an eight-goal cushion by the break. N’Guessan added five in a dominant second half, allowing the blaugrana to coast home.

Emotional moments

At full time, emotion swept the court. First, directors presented commemorative shirts to Vincent Gerard, Juan Palomino, Jaime Gallego, Javi Rodríguez, Pol Valera, Hampus Wanne and Melvyn Richardson. Then a tribute video honoured Aitor Ariño, Gonzalo Pérez de Vargas and Thiagus Petrus, who each gave farewell speeches.

Finally, the newly crowned Liga Plenitude champions received their trophy. One by one, players were acknowledged before Dika Mem handed the trophy to Thiagus Petrus, followed by Pérez de Vargas, Ariño and the rest of the squad, capping a perfect send-off at the Palau.
