It was the press conference that every coach dreads but Barça Women coach Pere Romeu faced the media after his team's defeat against Arsenal in the Champions League final in magnanimous fashion.

'It was not a good performance'

The coach admitted that "whenever you lose a final it's difficult but the 90 minutes do not reflect the season. We did not play well but that can happen. We have another trophy to play for and we want to win it." On the key to the final, Romeu added: "We wanted a first half with more control but we couldn't do that. In the second half we were better and we had more chances but then they found the goal."

The coach continued: "We lacked clarity with crosses. We always attack teams who sit deep and we have scored lots of goals getting to the by line but today we did not do that."

"You can measure a team's success by home many games they play and we have come to the final game of the competition. Focusing on just this game is not a reflection of the season."

Looking to the future, the coach was clear about how his team will react. "Motivated they are and they will continue to be because that's in their DNA and that of the Club. It very tough to be brilliant in every game. Today we have lost and we have to move forward. It's clear that the player and myself as coach we will try again," concluded Romeu.
